Questions Answered

In case you wondered where I put the long farm painting that was in the living room, it was relocated here in the kitchen.

Look what's already blooming in the cracks of the cement. The rogue morning glory I brought here over three years ago from the little blue house. They are like weeds.

It looks blue in this light for some reason. But they are purple.

I have a funny Abi story.

I couldn't find her outside Saturday morning. I called her but she wouldn't respond.

This was all very strange. Because she normally goes where I go. She rarely lets me out of her sight.

Remember those books in the pediatrician's office where you had to find an object on a page that was somewhat camouflaged?

Well, I thought of that when I found her.

It was the strangest thing. She's never sat in a plant container that I know of before. She will jump into them, but not stay in them.

I think maybe she liked the cool dirt. That Abi is a real character!

Above are the hyacinth bean vines that are coming up. There were ten in the packet, but so far only 3-4 have come up.

Okay, I had some questions I'm going to answer that were asked of me in the last few days.

I would like to respond to each comment in a post, but find I just don't have the time.

If I didn't post every day, I could do that. So that has been a consideration.

It takes time to take photos, edit them, upload them, write a post, edit it, and then schedule it.

If I posted every other day, that would give me more time to have an ongoing conversation with you and answer questions.

But it's up to you readers. I've been posting every day for a long time. Only occasionally during that time have I found the time to respond to all the comments.

Would you rather I post every day? Or respond to comments and keep a conversation going? Which would you prefer?

Here are the questions I've been asked.

Question #1: Do I have rental insurance?
Answer: Yes

Question #2: What kind of pillows were on my bed that are so comfy?
Answer: Sleep For Success

The tag said: SleepForSuccess.com & By Dr. James B. Maas & National Sleep Products

Question #3: Did I stop watching The Black List?
Answer: Yes. I watched the first episode of the season last fall. But I just couldn't get into the story line for some reason. I had watched the show since it began.

Question #4: How did I hang the quilts that are on my wall?
Answer: Tacks. Just regular tacks.

If I wanted to hang quilts that were any bigger, I'd have to use something else.

Many of my larger quilts have a muslin sleeve that I hand sewed on the back. I can put a curtain rod or something similar through the sleeve to hang.

Question #5: What brand is my essential oil diffuser I use in the bedroom? And does it leave residue behind?
Answer: It is Young Living. I ordered it a few years ago when I ordered some of their essential oils. Think it was around $30.
Answer: I have never seen any residue on my furniture. I have it sitting on a small glass tray that's barely bigger than it is. But if you're worried, put it on a bigger tray.

Happy Sunday!

  1. I had to laugh when I saw where Abi had hidden herself, what a great photo this has made! I must admit I didn't see her straight away.
I love seeing the Pupsters, they make me happy.
I look forward to you posting every day Brenda but am aware that it must take up quite a bit of time with the pictures you post as well.

    1. I am going to try my best to keep a conversation going in the comments. Perhaps I might take off Sundays. But most of you wanted daily posts, which I've always done anyway.

  2. What a great photo of ABI-I love it! This would be perfect to have a puzzle made from it, you know the kind you can order from Walgreens or CVS. I didn't see her at first, either...looking at the picture makes me wonder what was going through her mind, sitting there so still while you were calling her.

    1. Abi is a strange one. No telling what she was thinking. I ponder if she is a reincarnated dog from a former human, as she talks to me in Abi talk!

  3. Abi made me laugh too. I enjoy reading your posts daily. I see you answer sometimes and enjoy that but that's not why I read your blog. I do like this question blog post though. Maybe once a quarter? E

    1. I will address the questions in post format, even if I don't have time to answer here.

  4. I start my day out with my morning coffee and you, so if you didn't post everyday that would seriously mess with my routine! But, I understand your dilemma. I have wanted to ask you some of the same questions that you just answered, but I thought maybe they were too personal, like what kind of pillows you have because I can't find one that I like, or trivial, like what brand of oil diffuser you have. I like the way you addressed the questions in this post so maybe you could devote some posts to just answering questions as some of us seem to have the same questions. I really enjoyed this post and Abi's little trick was priceless!

    1. Don't want to mess with your routine, because I wouldn't want anyone to mess with mine! I am very much a creature of habit.

  5. I like the picture of little Abi. Ubique. I like that you post every day. You write so well. I especially like the posts about your every day life, you seem to be able to tell your story so well. It draws me in and I feel like you are telling it to me face to face. That is good writing. I follow very few blogs now days but I read yours every day. You are real. I have never met you and never will. But I feel like you are my next door neighbor and friend. And a good neighbor and friend you are!

  8. What fun we would have if we were neighbors! Regrettably North Central Texas is a ways from Tulsa.
I vote for posting alternating days in order for relationships to grow.
Your practical ideas are most helpful!

  10. Sharyn's comment about devoting a post to answering questions seems like a great idea. I enjoy your posts and whatever works best for you is fine with me. Thanks for all that you share.

  11. Abi, "incognito " , so cute. If posting less often would benefit you, why not give it try? I don't always get to read yours every day, but I don't delete them until I have read them . I have to play "catch up" sometimes.

    1. Abi is the oddest dog I've ever known. She seems more human. She is demanding, but precious.

  12. I vote for everyday posts and occasional posts where you answer the more interesting questions that we all might like to know about. I love reading your everyday posts, too. The picture of Abi was great, and I like someone's suggestion of making it into a puzzle or printing out the picture and framing it.

  13. I really agree with Karie. You are the only blog I follow and I read your posts daily. However, if every other day works for you, I will enjoy every other day.

  14. I would miss your daily posts very, very much. It is fun, however, to see answers to some questions. I agree with someone else who said, maybe once in awhile you could do a post just catching on answers to questions. I am in awe of what it takes to produce such a high quality daily post; I would not have clue. Thanks so much for what you share every day, how you inspire every day, and how you educate always.

    1. Most of you turn out to be no-reply commenters. That is a whole other story. But sometimes when I answer in a post that isn't devoted solely to questions, the answer gets missed. So I will try to do both.

  15. I forgot to vote! Here's my suggestion: Since this is a job and for you to get ads that, I'm guessing here, pay more the more people read you, why not post everyday and take Sat. & Sun. off? A little off-time for you on the weekends will refresh your soul and be something for you to look forward to.

    1. May do that. Yes, I am paid anywhere from $4 to $14 per thousand views, so I am paid more the more views I get.

  16. Look at Abi's little hide and seek game as her way of keeping you on your toes! She really is almost invisible behind the plants in the photo. Just her ears give her away. Maybe she just discovered she liked the view from there! Who knows the mind of a dog? You could try hiding from her and see if looks for you!

I am happy with every other day posts or continuing the daily ones. Whatever you want to do. It might be fun to just try the every other day routine and answering more questions just to see how it feels. An experiment, so to speak.

I was able to get out and do some weeding and edging today. The sun was warm but the air was very cool and there was a significant breeze that was a little nippy, but I enjoyed being out there anyway. Happy to make some progress on one of my five-plus flower beds. I didn't get all my mulching done last fall and I am paying for it now with a bumper crop of weeds. Fortunately, we've had so much rain during last week and before that it's relatively easy to pull those suckers out!

  17. just a suggestion - how about collecting all the question you get Brenda over a week and then do a post of answers to them all, say on a weekend or a friday or a day of your choosing? and then maybe post without any pics or photos that day

    1. Abi does more out of the ordinary than any dog I've known. There is just something different, but special, about her. Not to say Charlie is not equally precious!

  20. Hi. I've been looking for a horizontally long picture of some sort for my kitchen, and yours is just what I need! It looks good in that spot. Like many others here, I am excited to see your new post each day. But it's up to you. I've asked questions before but don't get upset about not getting an answer quickly -- to me, blog land runs on a different clock than the rest of life. A bit slower. There have been times you've decided to do a certain type of post at a certain time of the week or month, and then at some point, you've decided to try something else. So, you can deal with how often you post in the same way -- try something else, then if it doesn't work out, change again.

    1. Try Kirklands if you would like a painting like that one. I like to go to their website, because if you find something, you can put in your city and find out if it is in a store near you to further check it out.

  22. I honestly don't know how you do it, my friend. When I first came back after my 3 year break, I posted almost everyday and then visited everyone that commented and answered every comment on top of that and I burned myself out. When I came back after my recent break, I decided that I would post and visit twice a week. That's it. No matter how much I want to post a third time during the week, I usually won't because I know that I'll get too far behind and never get caught up. As you know, I only comment back to those that don't have a blog, but most of the time, I don't think they see it. I don't make money with my blog though, so I'm sure it would be different if I did.

I check in on you about once a week and play catch up. It's like having a cup of coffee once a week with a friend :)

    xo
