  1. Just a quick FYI and may have been mentioned above. I didn't read all the comments as not feeling well myself today! Anyway… ginger tea is wonderful for nausea… but get the good kind from Traditional Medicinals.. most stores carry it.. it's true pure ginger. Ginger "flavored" teas don't do much. I always keep it on hand and carry it in my purse too! There is also ginger gum which is awesome and I always carry some with me. When I had vertigo a few years ago and was always so nauseas from it, I chewed the ginger gum alot and it really helped. Sea Band (or it may be Sea Bond) carries it and it's on Amazon. Most pharmacies don't carry it but will special order it for you. It's a lifesaver. Marilyn

  2. BRENDA…I think your luck is changing!!! I mean, the heat hit you, you saw the nail, but you got it fixed for free and the ice tea cooled you down AND the Pepto settled your stomach!! Good things in small packages.

  3. I just watched Hidden Figures the movie on DVD from the library. It was an excellent movie and I heard that the book is even better, telling more of the story. You might like both.

    1. Never heard of that one. I hardly ever watch movies. Seems like too long to sit through. Except for now when my energy is gone!

  4. Hey Brenda, do you check out Library books on your Kindle/Ipad with Overdrive? that has saved me so much money. There's a pretty good selection, although you usually have to get on a waiting list. Just finished reading "Before the Fall" by Josh Hawley, really good book! get to feeling better!

  5. Oh Brenda…it's always something, isn't it? Anytime you're on an antibiotic, you need to be taking acidophilus supplements. Antibiotics not only kill the bad bacteria in your body, but the good bacteria as well. That's why you get an upset stomach and diarrhea when on antibiotics. I never knew this many years ago and I ended up with antibiotic-induced colitis. I was so sick that I almost ended up in the hospital. The gastroenterologist said that if I had've been taking an acidophius supplement while on the antibiotic, that would've never happened. Forget the Pepto-Bismol…it's bad for you, anyway. Did you know it's converted to aspirin in the GI tract? And aspirin is a NSAID (as well as ibuprofen), which is bad for your gut/liver/kidneys. And now they've recently found out that using NSAIDs carries a high heart attack risk, too. So, please – be safe and healthy and go out and get yourself a bottle of acidophilus supplements. Be well, my friend.

    1. You're right. I should have, Melanie. But this has just drained me and I didn't even think about it. Paid the price for it too!

  6. OH Brenda I had to laugh a bit about the tire ( SEEMS that in the past few years any tire troubles that I have had have ALWAYS been after the youngest borrowwd my car 🙂

As to reading I just did a post that involved an author that will probably be having her books for the rest of the summer 🙂

    1. Have you asked your youngest where on earth they went? I'll check out your post. I seem to have missed that one.

  7. Yes, social media can be a very scary place. Some people cannot unplug and it can destroy them, especially young people. There have been a couple of cases here in Canada where girls took their own lives over it, tragic!
I have never had shingles, but I've seen the vaccine advertised in a doctor's offend and have considered talking to a pharmacist or doctor about it. I am very sorry to hear how it is affecting you, I do hope and pray you are over it soon.
As for books, I recently discovered Dan Walsh's ebooks and have read three of them, the first two were really good, the one called "Keeping Christmas" was slow going.
Have a good evening dear Brenda.
    Cindy

  8. I really hate dealing with tire problems or any type of car problem but you were smart to take care of it right away and it's nice to hear they did it for free too. I'm glad you're starting to feel better!

  9. On another day when things just don't stop going wrong, how nice to find good people like the ones who fixed your tire for no charge. Thank goodness for good people!!

  10. I hope you are feeling better. I was thinking if you held the Pepto in your mouth for a few seconds, it may help with the ulcers in your mouth. I know it tastes terrible.
Love all the pictures of the flowers, birds and Pupsters.

  11. I'm reading The Big House – the true story of 100 years in the life of a (huge) Summer House on Cape Cod. Good summer read!

  12. I just finished two amazing books – one called The Ex, and the other Still Alice. Oh my gosh, I couldn't put either down, but I think I liked the 2nd the best!

    1. I've heard of Still Alice. I think the author is someone I've read recently, just not that particular book.

  13. I just finished reading this book, it was good? "Emily and Einstein" by Linda Lewis Lee.

He was a man who didn’t deserve a second chance. But he needed one…

Emily and her husband Sandy Portman seemed to live a gracious if busy life in an old-world, Upper West Side apartment in the famous Dakota building. But one night on the way to meet Emily, Sandy dies in a tragic accident. The funeral isn’t even over before Emily learns she is on the verge of being evicted from their apartment. But worse than the possibility of losing her home, Emily is stunned when she discovers that her marriage was made up of lies.

Suddenly Emily is forced on a journey to find out who her husband really was . . . all the while feeling that somehow he isn’t really gone. Angry, hurt, and sometimes betrayed by loving memories of the man she lost, Emily finds comfort in a scruffy dog named Einstein. But is Einstein’s seemingly odd determination that she save herself enough to make Emily confront her own past? Can he help her find a future—even after she meets a new man?

This book has a very unusual twist which I think you will love. I have passed the book to a friend and she is also really enjoying it.

  14. Never a good day to have a flat tire, but so great they fixed it at no charge to you. I was at Home Depot the other day and it was so hot, I was feeling the heat, I immediately left and went to Carls for a big ice tea! We have to be careful in the heat.

  15. Good Late Morning Brenda!!! We would so love some heat here in Northern Minnesota…..although the 60's aren't bad "but" we do have 7 months of cool and cold so some 80's would be great!!! Nothing on the horizon for another 10 days ( or more) never can tell in Minnesota!!! I love a good mystery. My very good friend Ginny's daughter in law "Vicki Pettersson" wrote the Signs of the Zodiac a six book series…they made the New times Best Seller. Im re-reading The Given right now….( if you like this type story) I got drawn in the series!!! I do hope you feel better. Don't get to much heat with taking antibiotics. I hope you have very nice day and snug down and have a cup of tea and a great book you won't want to put down!!! Take care DEB 🙂

  16. Oh, how disheartening to find that nail in your tire! But you are a person who perseveres in the face of all kinds of difficult situations. I think I might have laid down on the ground and said, "Just take me, Lord!" Anyway, I do respect your grit.

Brenda, do you ever take probiotics after you have been on an antibiotic? They will help get your digestive tract back in shape. You can get capsules at a health food store or sometimes I even see them at a grocery store. There are chewable ones, too, and you can always use yogurt and kefir which are full of probiotics. Just tho't I'd mention it.

    Sending healing energy.
Blessings for you and the pupsters, Naomi

    1. My doctor called yesterday and told me to do just that. I ordered a probiotic this morning from Walmart.com

  17. Wow, glad you were able to get the tire taken care of without too much of a problem. I'm sorry you had to go out in the heat while you aren't entirely over the shingles. Hope you can take it easy now. I've been reading gardening books from the public library — enjoying looking at the lovely photos rather than actually doing any work in my own yard!

  18. Sad to hear that you are still not feeling well. Shingles will definitely take it out of you. Not speaking from my own experience but my grandmother suffered from them and my sister has had two bouts with them and they are on her eyelid and around her eye.

Thankfully there are nice people in this world and they fixed your tire for free! That is nice.

Have a great day. Love your pup photo.

  19. Bless your heart you did have a lousy day. I hope you are feeling much better. It is very hot here in Utah it hit 100 yesterday. Of course we are not humid. Dry heat is a little easier to handle. I just stay inside my cool house. The heat makes me sick. Take care Brenda. Have a good day.

  20. The Pepto Bismol tablets are wonderful. Is that what you took for your nausea? Kaufman Tires fixed my tire for free also and like you I was shocked. I asked the same question..are you sure? lol
