Bringing In The Blues

When it gets really hot outside, I start yearning for shades of blue in my home.

So I dug out a blue quilt for the chair, and two for the couch and ottoman.

Then I went in the kitchen and got some blue and white plates. Who says you can't decorate your coffee table with plates?

Around here we're singing the blues. Hoping for rain to cool us down. And enjoying the soft feel of a quilt where we sit. Me and the pupsters, that is.

  2. I know exactly what you mean! After temperatures near 100 last week, we are around 70 today. A couple of days of rain made the garden very happy. We have an end-of-the-year show tonight and I am so glad it won't be sweltering. No A/C.
I am taking advantage of the cool afternoon to do a lot of ironing.
Your blues are so pretty. It's a shade that never goes out of style.

  4. As always, your home look great no matter what you choose to show. I enjoy seeing your quilts and your dishware. I was in Pier One yesterday and I always think of you when I look at the various dishes that they carry. When I first came upon your blog while you were in Texas, I was always drawn to your beautiful dishes and the clever way you were always using them. Have a great weekend Brenda and stay cool.

  6. here in Southern Ontario Canada we are hoping for some summer weather, please send over some of your heat Brenda! We are getting far too much rain. I will exchange rain for heat.

  10. Love those blues!.. and I wish I could plop a big lake right near your complex for you. Water makes all the difference - Do you have a public body of water you can visit nearby? sometimes just sticking your feet in and wading around can really bring respite.

  14. Love your quilts, they are so beautiful. I don't use a lot of blue in my house, although I used to years ago.

  15. I have a friend who always made his summer garden in shades of blue white and pastels if he could. No vivid reds, oranges or yellows. And of course it was beautiful.
I, on the other hand, bring out the soothing, gentle blue patio cushions . I copied that from him. I swear it may only psychological, but it looks cooler, it really does.

  17. I have yellow walls and lots of blue Staffordshire dishes. I love blue plates. I tend to buy more house plants when things get hot outside. I love the fresh greenery inside. I just made a terrarium and am really enjoying it.

  18. Blue is my favorite color and how I ended up with a red sofa and brown leather chairs is beyond my thinking! lol Since got rid of the red sofa for a beige one but I have incorporated some blue dishes in cabinets. GA was in a drought last year and now this year we're getting a lot of rain every day. I just pray no trees fall on our house! :)
