Homemade Burritos & Squirrel TV

I've been eating some tasty homemade burritos lately. Everything from Trader Joe's.

Flour tortillas, pinto beans, sour cream, guacamole, shredded cheese.

First I put beans in the center of a flour torilla. Then I add a dollop of sour cream. Then the same of guacamole. Then cheese.

Microwave a minute or so and you have a very good meal.

I also like Trader Joe's pulled chicken breast. I can get about four meals out of one packet ($5.99). I put it on their wheat hamburger buns.

I've also learned that I love the veggie corn dogs. Never thought I'd say I love corn dogs. But these are delicious!

And I've replaced my slice of cake at night with their ice cream sandwiches. Sometimes a banana.

Abi seems to be feeling better.

Watch this sequence of events where the squirrel teases poor Charlie.

Charlie's eyes are about to bug out of his head. He sits still as a statue and trembles.

Then Charlie barks and the squirrel skid-daddles. But this squirrel is not going to stop teasing him.

Is this called "squirrel lounging?" Drives poor Charlie bonkers when this happens!

Charlie wears himself out. Then lies on the couch next to me to sleep, tongue hanging out the right side of his mouth. Has himself a nap, then back to the door he goes.

Happy weekend!

  1. Your burritos sound good (and easy-which I like). Wish we had a Trader Joe's here but the nearest one is about 2 hours away.

I am laughing at the squirrel. When we lived in another home we had a big Maine Coon cat. "Our" squirrel would come right up to the ground floor window where the cat sat and stand up and 'chirp' at him. It drove the cat absolutely crazy!!!! lol

Have a good weekend- xo Diana

    1. Oh, my Clyde was a Maine coon cat. My ex got him in the divorce and he's since crossed the Rainbow Bridge. I just love Maine Coon cats. Clyde was a stray.

  2. I'm chuckling at the squirrel scenario. That is a familiar scene here with my Chihuahua too. You got great shots of the action. The close up of the squirrel's paws cracks me up.
I love to hear what others like to buy at Trader Joe's. I keep a running list of new things to try on my next visit.

  3. Love your photos this morning. The squirrel really is watching and vice versa.

Burritos and tacos are a mainstay at our house. :)

    1. Haven't made tacos in a long time. Might see what they have at Trader Joe's for a meat substitute. I'm not crazy about ground beef unless it's very very lean.

  4. The dinners sound delicious and poor Charlie, but the bonus for him is the snuggling with you! Happy weekend, Brenda!

  5. I am glad Abi is feeling better.
You have some very healthy, well fed squirrels who visit. We have these too but also the little red squirrels who are so cute. I am going to miss them when I move. It seems that almost everyone likes guacamole except for me! I eat a plant based diet and my friends tell me I should be eating this as it is rich in something that would be good for me, but I can't stand it! I think I could get the veggie corn dogs here but have never tried them. Have a great weekend Brenda.

  12. Hi Brenda, Charlie and the Squirrel are so cute and funny! Have you tried using Refried Beans instead of pintos? It is really good too.... :)
    Have a great weekend!!

    1. I don't like refried beans. If I'm at a Mexican restaurant with my daughter, I will always ask if they have plain beans. Not many foods I truly don't like. But refried beans is one of them.

  13. I love eating burritos also. It must be a single person's go to meal. So easy to prepare and nutritious too! I am enjoying your posts about Charlie and the squirrel. I think it is great entertainment for Charlie and I find it interesting that Abi is not at all interested it the activity. Keep us updated on the activity.

    1. Some people like refried beans in their burritos. I don't. I like regular pinto beans. Or you could use black beans, which I always have around.

    1. Hm. Have you ever had squirrels there?

    2. Not really. I saw a couple of squirrels in the village park many years ago, but I go jogging there daily and haven't seen them since. It's too many people in too small an area.

  15. I love this post.
have to try the burrito. have just been put on a low salt diet. getting used to it but it's hard. and restaurant tex mex is loaded with salt so i'll be trying your burrito for sure!
loved the news and pics of the pupsters. but mom...
how about washing little abi's eyes? there's one in a friend's family who always has those little eye boogers! some breeds just have it I think.
OCD that I am... I have to take them away with a Kleenex! I always think she can see better then! but I know you'd probably have to be doing it all day. the friend lets them even get hard. and I hate that!
