A Rainy & Peaceful Weekend

Yesterday I woke up to thunderstorms. It was overcast most of the day. The sun finally came out in the late afternoon.

A pleasant day. Quiet and peaceful.

A typical day for the squirrels and Charlie at the patio door. He watches for them from beside me on the couch.

If I raise my camera, he's learned that that might mean a squirrel is out there, and he jumps down and runs to the door.

Tomatoes I'll have soon. I'm sure enjoying having baked potatoes with fresh chives too.

Abi in a quiet reflective moment out on the patio. That girl sure likes to have her picture taken.

This looks to me like a fairly young female cardinal. She just doesn't look like a mature cardinal somehow.

Alyssum does not like the heat. But when it rains quite a bit, it bushes out again and blooms.

What a wonderful sweet scent it has.

A squirrel taking a little break. I often see them in the gutters of the apartment behind me. They keep nuts up there and go there to feast on them.

Happy Sunday!

I come to your blog everyday and receive inspiration. Today I will purchase a package of chive seeds. I have potatoes often too. Thank you for the idea!

  3. I have lots of squirrels where I live too, they come in the backyard and play tag around the huge tree, I love watching them. Fortunately my dog could care less about them!

  6. Brenda, I look forward to your post everyday and many ways I seem to relate to what your write. Love your tomatoes, that look wonderful! I so miss home-grown tomatoes, maybe next year I will try my hand in a growing attempt. I have many squirrels around my house also, but they can be so loud! Last night they seem to be having a party on my roof, sounded like a couple of huge men up there! Take care and keep up your beautiful blog, especially your decorating talents, really enjoy those!

  12. Gorgeous shot of Abi, Brenda! And the one of the squirrel is a hoot. You sure catch them in all their various doings. Some of those photos could be published in magazines like Birds and Blooms. Have you heard of it? They have a photo contest, too, where the grand prize winner gets $1000. Your photos would certainly be competitive, I think.

Glad you had a peaceful weekend. Mine was okay, too. My twin grandsons were here for four days and that was fun. I got to dig around in the dirt and plant a few things, so that was good. I don't feel right if I don't get out there just about every day and do something in the flower beds and yard. As you can imagine, winter in Michigan is difficult for me! Then I just stay inside and play with my house plants! But it's not the same.

  14. Brenda,

I hope that you had a wonderful Monday! Your weekend sounds a little wet but relaxing. Your pups always make me smile as do your squirrel photos. I have a squirrel that sits in my window if there is no food in the feeder for him and if sitting in the window does not get my attention he runs up and dow the screens making lots of noise.

Enjoy your chives, I bet they taste extra special on the potatoes knowing that you grew them.
