Quilt Love

The two quilts came at the same time. I am in love with both of them.

I knew the moment I saw the quilt on ebay, now folded over the couch, that I wanted it to go right where you now see it.

Between the floral canvas painting on the wall and the new quilt, the living room is alive with color.

But then I love color.

The little pinwheel quilt is precious. I paid $12 for it and it is worth every penny and more.

Primary colored pinwheels, blue and green and red and yellow. And those blue stripes!

Abi acting perfectly normal

I know that if I'd let the big quilt go to someone else, I would have mourned it. Silly as that sounds.

Every time I look at it, I smile. Oh, the colorful Dresden Plate quilt blocks. The exquisite tiny stitches.

These quilts give me joy every time I look at them.

  2. ...and that's as it should be. Your home should bring you joy...your respite from the outside world. That quilt is fun Brenda....enjoy! ;)

  3. And getting a package is so much fun. You know what's in it, but you aren't sure if you are going to love it. Will it be all that you hoped, will the stitches be small and neat, and will it make you feel happy every time you look at it? Your quilts ticked all the right boxes for you and make your space look so warm.

  4. oh your little cottage! for it is you know. it's not just merely an apartment ... it reminds me of a cottage I saw once in Nantucket! the little table quilt reminded me of it when you first showed it. it looked like the colorful yacht flags to me and with the blue and white stripes... so fresh and yes even nautical! and with the blue hydrangea especially! just the right touch in the simple white pitcher vase. perfect! and the floral painting with the brightly colored sofa quilt... it's that lovely and charming Nantucket cottage for sure! it took me back to a wonderful time!
you needed this happiness. you deserve it! XO♥

  5. Yes, your home should bring you joy. My home is small and not fancy, I have lived here for 43 years and would not change it for anything. I would like to move closer to my children but I can't live anyplace cheaper than here. I told them if one of them moved to a house with a yard big enough for me to have a tiny house then I would move!

The new quilts are very pretty! I am inspired by the small one with the pinwheels - may have to make one like that!

  8. Beautiful quilts.

I am pinning the pinwheel quilt for inspiration - lots of fabric that needs to be used up.

  20. I love that quilt, Brenda. It is a perfect accompaniment for that floral painting. The colors pull back and forth beautifully.
Your little pinwheel quilted piece is just lovely, too.

  21. I know that you used to quilt and that you appreciate the work involved so I can understand your joy :) They are wonderful additions to your cozy home :) Some people may pick up a quilt just for decor / only a quilter understands what a treasure they have.

  22. Both quilts are treasures, Brenda! If I had the painting above the couch myself, and the quilt below, I would tuck the lower portion of the pink/lilac border up under the yellow and just let the sides still show the smaller pink and lilac, to match with the smaller pink and lilac areas in the painting....(I am not a pink person).

  25. I just knew when I first saw the new quilt that it would look perfect under the floral painting. And it does, without a question!

Your house is very lovely and I think it is wonderful that you feel joy and satisfaction when you look at your things. It is a very healthy thing.

Brenda, I was wondering as I looked at your photos of your living room today how you did the paneling on the wall behind your couch. Is it real wood, distressed, or something else--like maybe wall paper? I'm considering doing something similar in my bedroom but the idea of installing paneling is rather daunting.

    1. That is removable wallpaper that I put up about a year ago. It was a gift from a wallpaper company.

  29. Thanks for your reply, Brenda. I might have to consider doing that in my bedroom rather than "ship lap". Do you mind telling me the name of the wallpaper company?
