Catching Up

Are you tired of decorating yet? I hope you enjoyed this past week's decorating series.

Some had questions, and I was thinking maybe we need to have a Question & Answer day so we can help one another with decorating and/or organization dilemmas.

Let me know what you think. And if you would like any other type of series, I'd love to hear about that as well.

Today I'm just catching you up on the week's happenings around here.

I noticed before noon yesterday that the outdoor temperature gauge was nearly at 100 degrees.

My poor clematis, I noticed when I was watering it, has fried. Literally brown, poor thing. I hope I get new growth next spring.

I can water twice a day, and still everything dries up. I'm ready for fall weather!

This is Charlie sprawled across his doggy bed. When I was at Home Goods this past week, I found him a bed that's a little bigger.

Since I took that photo earlier this week, the pupsters got groomed.

Abi's and Charlie's new "do." Charlie is below. He is munching on pineapple sage, which I notice he does when his tummy is a bit upset.

Here he is with his new bed below. Fits him much better, don't you think? I put his other bed back on my bed so he can still have it there.

Abi has absolutely no interest in doggy beds. But Charlie loves them. I think it makes him feel safe to have a bed.

Charlie yawning. Just look at that boy's long tongue. Think he was born with a double tongue or something?

I got the white set of dishes, but one plate was broken. I knew one was broken before I pulled them out because I could hear it. I called Target.com to ask what to do.

After dealing with someone I could barely understand (where do they have these call centers for Target?), who told me I had to ship the whole heavy box back, I asked to speak with someone higher up.

That individual was a bit more helpful. I told him that I had to push the box on the floor into my apartment, so I sure didn't want to pack it back up and attempt to carry it to my car.

But they said they can't just send me one plate, as it comes in a set. They decided to just send me a new set. So I'll have seven plates. And eight of everything else. That set is not here yet.

Update: Well, that second set just arrived and guess what? One of the mugs was broken! I'm just glad it wasn't another plate.

Have a great weekend!

  1. I am glad you persisted with Target and got them to send you a new set. Those pupsters are beautiful, I can just imagine myself cuddling them. I am glad you mentioned your clematis Brenda. I have one but am not sure what to do with it, it is really beautiful and looks to be several years old. I was told that I should cut it down before the winter hits but I can't imagine that is what the previous owner did as it is so full and about 7 ft high. What do you do with yours? This subject that I would like you to cover is how to write a blog, how to start etc. I now have time on my hands and would love to do this every day. I think my one worry would be am I going to be able to write about something every single day?

  2. Well, in terms of blogging, most don't blog every day like I do. Just take a look at my blog roll at the bottom here and look when they posted last. I will write a post about blogging. In terms of the clematis, I cut mine way down because it's only a few years old and dies all the way down.

    1. I would also love to see a post on blogging. I've thought so much about starting a blog but I'm so afraid I would not be able to keep up with it on a regular basis.

  3. I will be moving into a smaller cottage in a few weeks and I would like a Q and A day. I have lived in a smaller place before but this new place will be smaller yet. I'm concerned about defining bed, living and kitchen areas using furniture placement. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I love all of your topics and look forward to reading them everyday.

    1. This will probably surprise you, but I'd love to be in your shoes! I've always wanted one undefined space to see what I could do with it.

  4. My clematis is many years old. I cut it back each year & it just grows more & more.. I think that cutting them back, gives the roots time to become more healthy and ready to go again. I always enjoy your blog, no matter what you write about. Glad you got Target to settle up with you.. Take care...

    1. I've read that if plants have to send their energy all the way to a long end, then they aren't going to bush out like you describe. So I think you're right.

  5. THE PUPSTERS ARE LOOKING ADORABLE. CHARLIE LOOKS LIKE HIS NEW BED SUITS HIM NICELY. NOW HE HAS 2 COMFY SPOTS.
HOPE YOU ENJOY THE NEW WHITE DISHES, LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING THEM IN FUTURE POSTINGS. SO MANY OF THE CALL CENTERS ARE OUTSIDE THE US, A GREAT DEAL ARE IN MANILA PHILIPPINES, THE COST IS FAR LESS FOR COMPANIES, BUT UNFORTUNATELY SO IS THE QUALITY OF THE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I KNOW THIS IS TRUE FOR MY TELEPHONE COMPANY, THAT'S WHY I DON'T HAVE A LANDLINE. WAITED ALL DAY ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS FOR THE INSTALLER, ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT SOMEONE NAMED LUN CHOW PING CANCELLED THE ORDER, NOT JUST ONCE BUT TWICE. QUALITY OF SERVICE IS CERTAINLY NOT WHAT IT USE TO BE, AT LEAST THAT'S BEEN MY EXPERIENCE.
LOOKING FORWARD TO YOUR NEXT INSPIRATION.
HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND ! SNUGGLES TO THE PUPSTERS.

    1. I have Cox Communications for my internet, TV and landline. They do have all representatives in the US, unless they've changed very recently. I always get an English-speaking person when I call.

  6. Oh my gosh you lucked out! Now you have seven place settings. Good thing they sent you another! You should let them know so they stop setting it out busted or busted in transit.

It's hot here too. Our pug, my daughter's, ate a sprinkler, just noticed that why everything was dead on one side of the bed. xoxo Su

    1. Ate a sprinkler! Haven't heard that one before. I'll email them. The box of dishes came in a larger box, with bubble wrap around it. But they either need more bubble wrap or need to make the bigger box a bit smaller.

  7. I also love white dishes. I used to change dishware often as I love pattern and color. Finally I discovered I enjoy how food looks on a white plate and best of all, I can use any color or pattern of placemats or tablecloths with them.

  9. The pupsters are so adorable! Charlie looks like he loves his new bed. I really like how you have the flowers displayed in the old sifter! Your decorating series was great this week - I really enjoyed it! I think a lot of us would enjoy a question and answer series. It is a good opportunity to get many different opinions on things.

  10. I am glad to read the comments about cutting back the clematis. I didn't know what to do with mine. And I don't want to lose it. So interesting about trying to talk to a person who speaks English you can understand. I just dealt with a situation this week. I was so frustrated. I finally ask to speak with someone I could understand. I finally hung up. Sent a e-mail to the company. Next day they contacted me and couldn't apologize enough. And the person spoke perfect English. Love your blog posts. And comments are very helpful and interesting. Thanks Brenda for making blogging so enjoyable.

  11. I never get tired of decorating posts or talks - but it's one of my passions. Too bad Target doesn't pack their dishes well enough when they ship them. I'm sure you're not the only one who has called. You'd think they'd get on their shipping departments. Oh well.

  12. I love seeing the pupsters. They are so cute! And Charlie's tongue....oh my goodness it is long! Such a long tongue for a little guy. It made me laugh.

  13. I am not tired of your decorating posts...especially since you and I have the same style! Ugh, Target. I love online shopping, but when things come damaged it's always a hassle. I am glad they sent you a new set. Enjoy it!
