  1. Really enjoyed today’s post…it is drizzling gently here in S.Florida, and we sure need the rain. Looks like it might rain all day. I’ll take it! I also have minimal fall decorating and that suits me fine. I donated a lot of things last year.

  2. Still watching White cottage company on YouTube? Have you ordered any of her hand poured candles?

  3. As I get older, I find I like simple touches of seasonal or holiday decor, too. Less is definitely more. Your touches of cream and green are so pretty.

I also like soft light ~ lamps and string/fairy lights and candles. I only have one real candle I burn right now – a natural one (soy wax and essential oils) – and then a few battery operated ones.

    How is your back?

  4. What a delightful and wonderful post, Brenda. The more I read the more peaceful I felt. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts.

  5. It is so nice to read all the complimentary comments your friends have sent today. Your post was so calming and beautiful. Love your simple decor. As I grow older and wiser, I agree simple is better. This year I added a beige, fuzzy pumpkin pillow to the mix. I am enjoying it so much on my sofa in the day and on my dresser in the evening. Enjoy your day.

  6. Beautiful post, Brenda! I felt happy and relaxed while enjoying it – I really like your new style of decorating.

  7. Oh Brenda, your words are so calming. I think what you have done is just perfect. I bought three sweater pumpkins the other day to add to my stash.

  8. Your decorations are all so pretty Brenda. I wonder where do you put all of the beautiful decor you circulate through your home as the seasons come and go, especially living in an apartment where storage can’t be that plentiful. I’ve made some autumnal changes, but am feeling lazy. We still have some hot sunny days ahead according to projected forecasts (although today we are getting much needed and welcomed rain). I haven’t swapped out the “summer” art on the walls in the living room but that may happen today as I’m house bound by the weather, no puttering around outside today. I read an article recently that said people in their 60s and older have a harder time adapting to extreme heat and humidity, it’s a natural part of the aging process. I suppose the same will apply if we do get hit with a Great Lakes “usual” winter this season due to the El Nino effect and get socked with weeks of way below zero temperatures and 43 inches of snow. Yuck – don’t even want to think about it.

  9. Simply beautiful, Brenda. I could feel myself relax as I read your calming words and looked at your simple decorating. Thank you.

  10. What a lovely post!! Yes fall is the best time of year. I like a mix of real pumpkins mini to medium and ‘fake’ I’m a big collector of pumpkins made out of velvet, such gorgeous colors, pricey but they are with you forever. This year i also purchased a knitted pumpkin, with a real pumpkin stem and arranged with velvet pumpkins, & gourds nestled in an old copper kettle on my fireplace hearth. This will last thru Thanksgiving…….sometimes a statement is better than a mishmosh of fussy knick-nacks, which is why the green pumpkin and wood box on your fridge is terrific……enjoy your week

  11. Today’s post was so fun to read. I love all your little spots of Fall coziness. It’s just right! 🍁🍂🧡

  12. What a beautiful tribute to Fall, Brenda. Well said with love emitting from your words and pictures. Thank you.

  13. “The leaves whisper as they layer one on top of the other. Almost a sigh. Saying we’ve done our part. See you next time around.”
Love this ode to Fall:-) Happy Fall!

  14. Simple is excellent! This year I didn’t even put out the knick-nacky sort of things. They made me groan, so I think I’ll get rid of them. That’s not what makes fall. I’ll change my kitchen towels to fall, I’ll bring out a tablecloth, all more natural living type things rather than “stuff.” And I bring out my yankee candle fall scent. And if I want some pumpkins, rather than to store, I’ll purchase some tiny little real pumpkins that are cheap. But yes, as far as color, I just bring out those things I have, whether it be books or towels that I already have in fall color! People notice more when it is less!
