Rain & Trees

We got a nice rain shower yesterday. Sure perks the plants up.

With the weather cooling a bit, some flowers are making a comeback. They sure are a welcome sight.

Abi, who likes for me to be in the bedroom, is a happy camper right now.

There is so much stuff crammed in the living and dining space that I also eat back here. Just put my plate on my tray and watch TV.

I've been watching the Las Vegas coverage, as I imagine many are. Just like we watched the hurricane coverage.

One thing sure happens when tragedy occurs, you find out what folks are made of. All manner of heroics and good people doing what good people do. Thinking about others more than themselves. This is heartening.

This tragic event surpassed other tragedies in terms of number of people being killed. But I imagine there will be another at some point that surpasses this one unfortunately.

I guess you're going to be seeing a lot of photos of my patio, as my whole apartment is seriously has stuff piled everywhere, and not a place I want to photograph. Not a pretty picture right now, that's for sure!

So I hope you don't tire of flower and pupster photos for awhile.

Someone emailed that they solved a similar wall problem by putting up bead board. Ironically, I had bead board at either end of that wall, and I tore it down in order to get to the wallpaper! It broke apart and I took it down to the dumpster. Gone now.

Sounds like a pretty good idea actually, but I don't have the tools. It's sure a thought I'm keeping in mind if I don't hear back soon.

I'd probably have to hire someone to do that as well. I don't know what management would think about me putting bead board up. Guess I could check.

They tell me they're having the problematic trees cut down around here. A few weeks ago I called the main office of the management company that oversees this place, and basically threw a fit. I got a pretty quick response.

They seemed quite surprised when I told them that one of the apartments here has been closed up indefinitely because there is a tree growing in the dining room. Guess they hadn't been told.

Soon after that phone call, the maintenance man was sent to that apartment to drill holes in it and insert tree killer or some such thing. (He told me this.)

I would think they'd have noticed that only 99 units are being leased out of 100. But who knows?

How do thinks get so out of hand? I guess if the owner lives in Texas and the management company hires a complex manager to oversee it, the buck just keeps getting passed. While the trees take over.

  1. They may not say a thing about the bead board, seeing you just let them know about that apartment with the tree growing in it!

  2. So sorry you are having such a hard time over the wallpaper residue Brenda. Love those 'black velvet' flowers! Are they morning glories?
Looking forward to seeing more of the pupsters.

  3. I love the flowers, especially the black ones. I think the bead board is a great idea. You know, weathered wood walls are really 'in' these days too. I had a friend use peel and stick vinyl flooring planks to make hers and it is really pretty. It wouldn't be fixing your problem, but would cover it up for awhile. lol Good luck with the tree situation!!

    1. I thought about it, but I quickly got tired of the wallpaper that looked like old boards.

  4. I USE TO LIVE IN TULSA IN APT. COMPLEX MANAGED BY THAT SAME COMPANY, AND THEY RELY ON PROPERTY MANAGERS TO RAISE A RED FLAG. I HAVE BEEN CONCERNED ABOUT TREE ROOT ISSUES, AS WELL AS THE APT. THAT FLOODS AND POOR PEOPLE WERE NOT RELOCATED. THAT IS A,LAWSUIT WAITING TO HAPPEN. EVEN SECTION 8 HAS RULES ABOUT A PLACE BEING HABITABLE, AND REPEATED FLOODING ISSUES WOULD BE CONSIDERED UNINHABITABLE. MAYBE NOW THAT THE MANAGEMENT COMPANY AND NOT JUST COMPLEX MANAGER HAS BEEN INFORMED, SOMETHING WILL GET DONE.
I NEVER TIRE OF SEEING BEAUTIFUL, FLOWERS, YOUR EVER EVOLVING PATIO OR THE PRECIOUS CHARLIE AND ABI ROSE.
TAKE CARE, TRY TO RELAX,AND TRUST A SOLUTION WILL BE FOUND SOON.

  6. We have had just a few sprinkles so far here in mid-MO. It's very dry and I hope the rain I see on the radar in KS will come this way.

The double petunia is very pretty. We never tire of seeing your patio flowers or the pupsters. Good luck with getting the wall fixed soon so you can get your room back together.

  10. I am more than happy to look at flowers and pupsters on your blog! I love, love, love those black petunias. I wasn't able to find any to plant this year. Do you ever save the seeds for the next year? I do and I have great luck with them. Saves a little money over buying everything new the next Spring.

Still wishing you luck with that x*#&%!@ wall!

  12. I love those black petunias, too! I must look for some next season! Following your wall dilemma. I love bead board and saw this one. Would it cover the whole wall? Hang in there! Your solution, whatever you choose, will look good, I'm sure.

  13. Hi Brenda~

I think bead board would be a great remedy, I think it's very pretty. A tree growing in the dining room?! Wow, I don't think they would say anything about bean board and making improvements.

Your photos are gorgeous - your petunias are gorgeous, I always love purple, but those black petunias are amazing, so pretty!

I agree about the tragedy in, Los Vegas, it does bring out the best in people. I believe that most people are good when you get right down to it.

Looking forward to your post tomorrow!

    Hugs,
    Barb

  15. I think they should thank you for the addition of bead board. It gives more of a sense. Of style but whatever you do Brenda it will be pretty. Pictures of pups and flowers always welcome.

  16. We had a house that we rented out for years. The company managing it was NOT very bright about maintaining it. My husband thinks it is a money issue but I call it stupidity. Some people don't know how to maintain a home. Someone I know said when a rental was vacated they found that people had put used disposable diapers into the wall. They apparently made a hole in the wall and stuck the diapers down in between the studs!!! And then another story very similar was told!! When we took back a house the people left 2 washers and 2 dryers behind and tons of stuff all over the floors about 2 feet deep!
