About a week or so ago, I emailed Mary Kubica, author of “The Good Girl.” Did you read that book?
I told her that I’d love to read and review her last book. She gave me the
email of her publicist. I wrote to him, and I now have her latest book,
“Every Last Lie.”
Well, that was easy!
Here is an Amazon blurb about Mary Kubica’s latest novel…
New York Times bestselling author of THE GOOD GIRL
Mary Kubica is back with another exhilarating thriller as a widow’s
pursuit of the truth leads her to the darkest corners of the psyche.
Clara
Solberg’s world shatters when her husband and their four-year-old
daughter are in a car crash, killing Nick while Maisie is remarkably
unharmed.
The crash is ruled an accident…until the coming days, when
Maisie starts having night terrors that make Clara question what really
happened on that fateful afternoon.
Tormented by grief and her
obsession that Nick’s death was far more than just an accident, Clara is
plunged into a desperate hunt for the truth.
Who would have wanted Nick
dead? And, more important, why? Clara will stop at nothing to find
out—and the truth is only the beginning of this twisted tale of secrets
and deceit.
I started reading it yesterday and am loving this book. I’ll
give it to my daughter to read when I’m finished. We like to trade books
because we like the same genres.
What are you reading lately? It’s that time of year to curl up and stay warm with a good read!
I love murder mystery books. But not scary ones. Lol
My favs are women's fiction and thrillers.
I just started reading a book by Maeve Binchy published in 2004 called Whitethorn Woods. I don't know whether it is her last book before her death or not but I was thrilled to find it at one of the thrift stores that I go to. I tho't that I had read all of her books so I was delighted to find one that I hadn't read. I love her stories. They are about regular down-to-earth people living various ordinary lives but with interesting twists and turns. You become very involved with the characters' whose personalities and eccentricities are finely drawn. Very nice reads.
I remember reading Maeve Binchy's books.
I read a book every few days or if I am busy one a week but I do not like scary, true crime books in my old age. I am not sure why but that is the case. I will read anything but that.
How are you feeling? Any changes? How are the pups?
I hope that you have a wonderful week.
I felt great Friday. The next two days, not so much.
this sounds like a good read Brenda. I am reading the Doll House by Fiona Davis. I just started reading this book and love it. Thanks for sharing about this book and I will put it on my list of books to read.
I hope you are feeling better soon.
Julie
Hey Julie, I haven't heard of that book. I'll look it up.
Do you live near a local library? They have any kind of genre you'd want to read. Mary Higgins clark is a wonderful author.
I probably do. But I like to get them free and then let my daughter read so we can discuss them.
I set reading goals every year. They are on the modest side but still challenging enough for me. This year I set my goal at 35 books but am now on my 42nd. The last book I enjoyed was A Column of Fire by Ken Follett.
That sounds like a great idea. I tend to read on my Kindle through the hot months because I don't have to turn the light on. But in the colder months I like to read actual books. A goal sounds good.
I just finished The Little French Bistro by Nina George. Really enjoyed it!
I think I've heard of this author. Will check into her books.
Oh, I want to read The Good Girl.
I am finishing The Twelve Mile Straight.
I love getting recommendations for new books.
Thanks!
I looked up "Twelve Mile Straight" and it looks like a great read!
I LOVE to read and do so every day. Lunch and a good book; sit on the patio with a good book; rest in my favorite chair with a good book …………It has also become my way of shutting down for the evening. The library is within walking distance and I am there at least once a week to return or pick up a book. Thanks so much for your reviews and suggestions. I have placed most of the books you have mentioned on hold at the library.
Currently I just started Shattered by Allison Brennan and I hope it is going to be good. I also just placed In This Moment by Karen Kingsbury (one of the readers mentioned this author), The Dying Hour by Mofina, and The Good Girl by Kubica on hold at the library.
Hope you are continuing to feel better.
I'm checking "Shattered" out. I always seem to read in bed at night.
This sounds good. I'm ready to start a new book today so will be looking at the library!
You and I like a lot of the same books, Linda.
I read 12 books last month. My favorites were the Lucy stone mysteries by Leslie Meier. I just finished death in the family tree by Patricia springer.
You're way ahead of me! I will check out this author.
Always great to find an author that you enjoy! Have a great week!
Shelley
I love the suspense novels, and she churns out some good ones!
I am currently reading or rereading, A Baxter Family Christmas by Karen Kingsbury. She is my favorite author by far. I highly suggest her Baxter Family series.
Not familiar with that author. But I'll check her out on Amazon.com.
