The sun finally came to the party here today. I was so happy to see it. I whipped my camera out and took some photos for my shop. I so agree with you about the sewing machine place. Whatever happened to those little place where there was a Mr. Fixit who could fix anything. I need one of those.

I love the cute doggy-house-words calendar picture. That is so neat!

I use Amazon's Subscribe & Save for my regular order of Torani Sugar-Free Vanilla Syrup. I can't drink coffee without it. I save 1/2 of what I'd pay in stores, so I love it! Amazon always sends me a notice letting me know that they'll be placing my order in the next week and that if I want to make changes, I can. It just happens automatically every 2 months as you can set the interval yourself. Works great and saves a ton of money, so I'm happy about it.

Brenda, I have used Amazon Subscribe and Save for quite awhile now. I get my Puffs, Tide, Splenda, Charmin, Bounty, Olay, Granola bars and lots of other items that way. It's easy to use or change at any time. Stuff just shops up when you need it...it's awesome. Email me if you want some help or such.

Hi Brenda,
Loved this post...felt as if I was sitting in your living room hearing about your day. My Mom has a Singer featherweight very similar to yours; I learned to sew on it and it still works well. I agree about sewing machine repairs...find a little Ma & Pa sewing machine repair shop (my guy looks just like your description...overalls and all)...the big chain stores just aren't the same when it comes to workmanship and customer service.
Anyway...loved the post and hope the sun will be shining on the little blue house for you today!

Hi Brenda. Enjoyed this post. I have gone back and read a lot of your previous posts to understand more what you have been going through, and I think your experiences, while difficult, are resulting in an outlook in which you are more free to appreciate the many blessings of life, no matter how small. They say that when life gives you lemons, make lemonade, and, your post shows that when life doesn't give you sunshine, you can make some of your own!

I certainly hope someone capable can fix your sewing machine for you Brenda, obviously that screw went to SOMETHING on your machine. Grrrr I hate it when repair people take our money and won't own up to it when they make a mistake. Well, hot chocolate will help anything so drink up and enjoy!

If you want to drive about an hour east of where you are, there's a lovely little quilt shop near me. Her husband works ONLY on old Singer sewing machines...repair work and all! He even has several for sale. I have my mom's old Singer and I asked him how much he would charge to clean it up and make sure it was in working order. Barring no problems and replacement parts...$25!! I thought that was super darn cheap!!! They are really a lovely couple. It might be something to consider if you can't find one closer to you.

Brenda, I'm enjoying my Susan Branch calendar, too. I even picked up some of her older cookbooks on Half.com after re-discovering her again after many years.

My boss uses the subscribe & save for coffee for the office. Our k-cups always arrive on time. They send a reminder that your order is about to ship; sometimes we have to postpone or cancel an order. We've even had to request an additional order. All of our requests have been processed without error. Based on our experience, I would not hesitate to use this service for home.

I have been reading your posts for quite some time--as a lurker. Finally, I decided that I wanted to comment and let you know how much your posts are enjoyed. Your photography, your home, your life experiences, stories about your little dogs, your blogging skills, I am so happy that you share them with us. I can just visualize how your little dogs act when you are talking on the phone. My little pomeranian boy runs to answer the phone when it rings, if only he had thumbs and was taller. He likes stay next to me when I'm talking, I think he can hear the person on the other end talking, too. The little perks of green that you've been adding to your color scheme look so bright and cheery. It was cloudy here in St. Louis today and I am craving sunshine. I can't seem to get enough light in the house. Good luck with your sewing machine.

I think in these disposable times, fixing a trusted old sewing machine is not a priority at a sewing place. As with large and small appliances, they'd rather sell you a new one.
When looking at your big bowl of buttons, I wish I could reach in and run my fingers through them - great collection.

I spent time in mine today and it is very soothing.I posted a few pictures on my blog today.
Mine is very small 7x14 attached to the sewing room. In fact I built it myself many years ago.
It helps push away the winter blues here in Iowa.
