Cute gifts like that will certainly brighten the winter days! The rose is so adorable! Nice touch!

As for blogger--I use Google Chrome and have not had problems either reading or posting since I switched. It's faster as well.

I have been reading about the problems on other posts too and it would seem that a change of browser might be in order.

Also, when changes are made in the computer coding by the programmers, there will be bugs. Hubby is a computer programmer/analyst and believe me--a small fix can really have some unexpected results! LOL

Hi Brenda, I think I might have a solution to some of your reader's problems, specifically how to leave comments. I had the same problem a while back and found this solution that worked for me and have not had a problem leaving comments since. It might be tied into the 'disappearing blog issue', too. Anyway, here goes:

You have to 'Enable 3rd Party Cookies'.

Click on 'Tools' on the Menu Bar, then 'Internet Options'. Click on 'Privacy'. Select "Advanced" under "Settings".

Check the "Override Automatic Cookie Handling" box so you now have access to "First Party Cookies" and "Third Party Cookies" options.

Select "Accept" for "Third Party Cookies"

That should free up your computer to leave comments and possibly help with the other issues.

I did this months ago and have had no problems since.

By the way, my oldest son works at Microsoft and my youngest owns his own Computer IT business and have not encountered any problems on my computer from doing this. (They keep me up to date on security).

I also was having major issues with my blog, it has to do with having your comments "embedded" at the bottom, if you go and change that in your settings to on of the other two options that quits. Bloggers has issues with the embedded style of comments. The problem with going elsewhere is first it costs! And second you need to be much more computer savy, which I am not.....you would be fine, but most of us would be left in the dust! LOL I think Blogger needs a ton of messages left by everyone about all of the problems, perhaps they will realize how many people they are about to lose....

Problems problems problems...I'm having them all too! and blogger help seems to be NO help at all. I switched to Chrome and that has fixed a couple of my issues but yesterday morning my blog was all out of order with no header. I know it's free but you would think they would keep up with technical issues....hhhmmm

Anyway, aren't blogging friends wonderful? I don't know how I would have gotten through some things this past year without the friendship of so many lovely women out there ~

I had no idea there were issues with blogs just up and disappearing!

I do think that if your blog is a big part of your life, paying for one (while painful) may be the best "value" in the long run.

If only for the accountability on the part of the system admins if your blog up and disappears.

Your gifts are so lovely, that so sweet of them. :) The dogs look so pretty all bathed an fluffed, I had to do that with mine yesterday. :)
I am not sure what is going on with blogger but I make sure to back up my blog once a week and Picnik, well that is sad but I think that they said that you could still use them but there will be changes or something like that, I don't know I didn't really understand what they were saying.

Where to begin my friend. I am beside myself with the loss of Picnik. Part of me thinks this is becoming all too much work with blogger and wants to move to some other format. I have made the move to Google Chrome and that seemed to solve most all the problems I was having with commenting. I have played with Google +, and really don't like that to much. It's hard to keep track of personal and blog stuff all in on place together. But, the picture thing my just put me over the edge. I've played around with BeFunky and a few others. But most are not as user friendly. I'm guessing they are going to go after Pinterest next and play with that too. Don't you just hate "big brother".

I am having no problems seeing your blog or commenting.

I came back to Blogger a few months ago when Apple announced that iWeb would no longer be supported. I began with Blogger almost 4 years ago, got fed up, went to Typepad, hated it, went to iWEb, loved it. Used Wordpress for my site for GENEVA, my book, tried it for personal blogging, hated it as too difficult and constraining, came back to Blogger. I am now using the "New Interface" on Blogger and actually like it. You do not see the old form of Dashboard.

My only problem is this: when I checked my stats last night, I found that SPAM BLOGGERS are literally bombarding me! I reported all of them to google/blogger, but one of them actually looks legitimate. It is called "googlecorrection" -- don't click it. A very popular blog that I link to each week has also provided hundreds of hits, not very likely, and I notified that blog owner.

I would like to know how to back up the blog. If you get this information, could you publish it?

I switched over to wordpress a year ago and I LOVE it. It takes some time to make the switch, alot of reading to make sure I did it right. It also took some time to get aquainted with my WP dashboard but now I would NEVER go back to blogger. WP has so many options and you can publish your blog right on your own website. (The main reason I switched)

I didn't read through 43 comments to see if anyone else had an idea for your "new" relative. I discovered a new (to me) Command product. It's a neat way to hang pictures on the wall, a bit like velcro with two parts put together and adhesive on the other side of each part. I love it; I hung a vintage Coke tray on my kitchen wall using it. Hope you find this helpful.

I am disappointed about Picnik going away too, because I use that to edit all of my photos. I like it alot better than Picasa! Guess I'll have to accept the change though. I still have problems with leaving comments on peoples blogs that don't have a pop-up comment box. I have heard that you can use Google Chrome, but I don't understand how to convert everything over to that. We use plain Google for everything. I'm just not very computer savvy with stuff like that.

How interesting. I thought I was the only one having trouble commenting and having pages dissappear half way through loading. I was blaming my internet service as I live in the back of beyond. But my computer is new , so I knew that wasn't the problem.
Hpoefully blogger will figure out people are getting frustrated and straighten it out :)

I have heard so many people having different issues with blogger. Knock on wood mine is okay using Chrome. I never used Picnik so I won't miss it. I use Picasa. I have heard that wordpress is hard to learn and it costs a whole lot more for a blog design. I don't worry about losing my blog because everything on my computer is backed up 24 hours a day and can be restored if needed with carbonite.com.

The only problem I have had with blogger is I have been told that sometimes friends cannot comment. It seems to resolve itself though. I too am sad about Picnik going away. I learned about that photo editing site from you and have been faithfully using it for quite some time now. I did a post about it's demise yesterday. Here is what I have learned ~ before Steve Jobs died, he told the powers that be over at Google that they were spread too thin and should focus on 5 things. So they took his advice and Picnik got the ax. Perhaps with greater focus, blogger will improve. I just hope that the talented folks over at Picnik go off on their own and create another photo editing site, or maybe Picassa will pick them up. So lets not get worried and wait to see what shakes out. Sometimes companies grow too fast and their quality suffers. Let's just hope that Google improves on their 5 top products. Keep smiling Brenda ~ we will weather this storm together.
