I have Carbonite and after the first upload that takes FOREVER, it just works in the background backing up all of your stuff. Now if I can figure out how to download my blog backup, it will be backed up on Carbonite.

I also have a 550 gig external hard drive on which I back up my documents on a fairly regular basis. Just in case...

Your banner looks really good! I must be in the minority...I don't use Picasa and I don't use Picnik.
I use Gimp (free) to create my banner. It takes a bit to figure things out but it works for me.
I use Photoscape to edit my photos...it's free, too.
I have often thought about losing my blog. I've never heard of Carbonite...mercy, I must live in the dark ages!! I'll have to check it out.

Brenda! I love your new banner. We must be on the same page because last Friday I decided I was going to make a new banner and discovered that picnic was going down in April. Guess I'll have to learn Picassa. My first banner was made in Photoshop after endless hours of trials.

the new banner is wonderful and you've done a great job! I don't mind learning new things when I have the time ... but when pressed ... then it's just a big stressor! I can't tell you how many hours/days I have spent just trying to figure out an easy way to add a watermark. Ugh!

Great minds think alike! I messed around with Picasa yesterday and got a few drafts of collages but don't really like that style. I want the banner across the top but haven't figured that one out yet nor have I tried. It was too nice here yesterday to sit inside!
Your banner looks great! For everyone out there who backs up their computer on an external hard drive or other device....it does not back up your blog. You blog doesn't "live" on your computer...it lives at Google or wherever you created it. Just an F.Y.I.
I need to focus on photography too...I am SO bad at it!

I know! There is sooooo much to worry about. I'd be heart broken to lose my blog! Thanks for the tips. I will have to see about backing it up..even if I have to pay. I have an external hard drive, but I don't think it backs up the blog. Hmmm....will have to look more into that. Any ideas?

I love your new banner and think you did an awesome job on it. I prefer the photo banners since it gives a better idea of what the blog is about. I too think about switching to wordpress but that does concern me about how difficult it can be to switch, you know the old "if it ain't broke..." I don't use Carbonite, but I use a 32 GB flash drive to back up my photos, document, and my blog I just plugged it in, selected what I wanted backed up (photos, documents, music) and then hit back up. These blogs are a lot of work and they are definitely worth baking up.

Congratulations on that banner ...both figuring out how to do it and making it so wonderful. I love it!! I just wrote a post about technology with a tutorial, and because I realize that I am not the only one who consistently asks ..how do you to that?...I enlisted the help of my son. His information is on the blog post and if you ever have a tech question, I am sure that he will be happy to help you out as well. He speaks our language...slowly...in words we understand.

Frazzled to death last night working on blogging and trying to do new headers - so not relieved this morning!! Went to bed with a headache and got up feeling lousy! But the sun is shining, my new flowers from T.Joe's are gorgeous in front of me, and today is another great day!!

My problem is I loved to do editing, collages, and make headers in PhotoScape - a wonderful free program on my old PC (which only works sometimes). PhotoScape is not compatible (hear me crying here) on the Macs which are what I use now. I cannot for the life of me find a good program as easy as PhotoScape - wish they could get it going for Macs.

Your header is lovely Brenda - wonder why there isn't a 'making headers' program which doesn't require also using another program to complete the process, it's all so complicated and time consuming to we blogger. Google - do you hear us? We'll forgive you if you come up with something good for us.

Now I'm thinking again about Carbonite - another concern, this back-up subject! Mixed reviews have me a bit hesitant at spending the money but perhaps I will to be safe.

The banner looks great Brenda. I made my new banner in Picasa, then added the text in Photofiltre. I like keeping Photofiltre around. It was one of my first editing programs after Picasa. I do a lot of work in Photoscape also.

I've heard of Carbonite but haven't tried it. will do that, as I lost my laptop recently and still haven't taken it to our tech guy. Hope he can get my photos at least.

I love your new banner Brenda! It's lovely! I used the tutorial from Clover Lane to learn how to make a banner over 2 years ago. I try to change my blog banner monthly or seasonally depending. Of course, practice makes perfect and it will get easier. It used to take me 2 hours to make a banner and now it takes about 15 minutes. Wishing you a wonderful Wednesday! Angie xo

Hi Brenda - I checked out Google + Creative Kit and
it has a bit of PicniK - the font choice is the same for text.

It does not have borders or collages.

It is not an open and use, its more like open Google + sign in, open Photos. Upload photos. Click on a photo and then if you are lucky you will see Creative Kit ... and ...

There is too much 'Public' sharing and open to the world as far as I can see. So I guess I will continue with PicniK until the last day and practice with BeFunky and Picasa.

Maybe Google + will add the rest of Picnik's great features, who knows, sure hope so and also hope they bring it as an easy to use stand alone etc. Not holding my breath though.
