I am home from surgery now. The cataract surgery only takes about 5-10 minutes. I was not at all sleepy, so I was able to leave almost as soon as it was over.

My daughter stopped at McDonald’s to get us coffee and breakfast and we were back at my apartment before 8 a.m.

There were a lot of people there for eye surgery. The surgery waiting room was packed and there were gurneys lined up in the surgery room.

I was given IV Verced for an anesthetic.

A Bewildered Charlie:

Charlie was so happy to see me once I got home. He didn’t understand why I was leaving this morning when it was still dark outside.

My eye is very blurry. So I’m typing using my left eye to see. They say that can last for a few days.

I woke up with a broken blood vessel in my right eye for some reason.

Yesterday I got so excited because I saw a hummingbird near the hibiscus plant. I grabbed my camera, but it wasn’t working.

I’d apparently left the camera on and the battery was dead. I was so disappointed, as that was the first hummingbird I’ve seen in the over four years I’ve lived here.

So I went outside again quite a few times after that once the camera battery was charged, hoping to see the hummingbird. But I wasn’t lucky enough to did see it again.

You can be sure I’ll be watching for the hummingbird in the hope of seeing it again and making getting a photo of it. They move so rapidly it’s terribly hard to take a photo of them, I’ve learned over the years.

I guess I’d better rest my eye, so I’ll let you know how things are after my 8:30 optometrist appointment in the morning.

My daughter has gone to enroll Andrew in school, then she will bring lunch over.

One came to see my purple morning glories – same as yours – the other day and I missed a photo too. They come and go so quickly! The thing that alerted me to its presence was the whirring sound of its wings.

  21. GREAT NEWS ABOUT YOUR SURGERY. HOPEFULLY SMOOTH SAILING FROM.NOW ON.
    TERRIBLE THUNDERSTORM AT MY.PLACE LAST NIGHT, UP WITH CRICKET TILL ALMOST DAWN, SHE’S TERRIFIED OF THE THUNDER, THERE’S NO COMFORTING HER.
    MY HUMMINGBIRD FEEDERS WERE BUSY THIS MORNING, I COUNTED 32 BETWEEN THE 2 FEEDERS, ABOUT 6 FT. APART. HAVE TO REFILL FEEDERS AT LEAST TWICE A DAY.
    HOPEFULLY YOU WILL BE SEEING MORE ON YOUR PATIO. EVEN WITH ALL YOUR FLOWERS. YOU MIGHT CONSIDER A FEEDER TO HELP ATTRACT THEM.

Oh those bittersweet days of seeing them climb aboard the school bus as little as they looked to me.   38. Glad the surgery went so quickly. Try wearing a red shirt out on your patio. Hummingbirds are attracted to red. I’ve had them almost land on my shoulder when wearing red.

  45. So happy that all went well. I tried to post a good wishes comment yesterday, but I made some kind of boo-boo. My experience with any surgery that I have had recently is that it has been easy peasey, and the results have caused miraculous, wonderful changes in my life. Hope it will be so for you. By the way, we have been delighted to see many hummingbirds and monarch butterflies this summer.
