Gifts For The Coffee Bar

I’m such a lucky duck. I got two gifts a few days ago. The two red pieces, which you can’t see very well in this pic, are from Viola, from the blog Along A Widowed Road. Thanks, Viola! I love them!

And the sign Brenda’s Coffee Bar was painted by one of my very favorite readers, Annette from California. Thanks, Annette!

Here you can see one of the red pieces better. Isn’t it perfect with the little coffee cups going around it?

And this came with it. A napkin holder with two red spoons crossing. Love them!

You guys sure know how I love my morning coffee. And the strange thing is, both gifts are for the coffee bar, and came at the same time!

Ever since I’ve been drinking coffee, I’ve had a coffee bar. The first one was a red cabinet from JC Penneys. But it broke. Then I used my potting bench. And now, I’m using the kitchen cart left behind by the former owners. That works!

Whether you’re a coffee or a tea drinker, or even hot chocolate, you can find a piece of furniture to have a coffee bar situated on. It makes drinking that first cup that much better!

And something else you’ll always see in my house is a vintage jar full of aromatic coffee beans (but cheap ones) with a candle. It smells fantastic!

Changes To The Coffee Bar & A Red Rooster

I have made some changes to the coffee bar. It began when I needed the red, white and blue lamp in another room. I’ll show that later.

So yesterday before PT I hopped on over to Target and found this lamp. I guess it could be said I can’t have too many lamps. With some people it’s jewelry or fabric. With me it’s lamps.

Then something rather unexpected happened. I was meandering down the kitchen aisles. And I saw this red rooster creamer. It was the only one left. $5. That seems to be a magic price for me.

Lo and behold, before I could even take the time to think it through, he had flown off the shelf where he was all alone and was in my basket, wings still flapping and feathers still fluttering.

You don’t see the small Cuisinart coffee maker because I decided to store it up in the open shelved cabinets. Figured I’d get it down when I needed it.

I also painted the cup and saucer painting frame blue. It was gold and just didn’t do the trick.

Do you see something else different? Why it’s the way I have my Keurig K-cups arranged. I thought it looked rather festive for the holidays. I normally put Christmas ornaments on this two-tiered piece, but I’m not wanting to dig through the shed to get to them.

Tell me, what would you do if a little red rooster creamer flew right off the lonely shelf into your basket? Would you have the heart to put him back?

{Note: Remember the giveaway here on this post. And Judy’s sale at her Etsy shop is still going on.}

Changing Up The Coffee Bar

Can you see any major changes to what has been dubbed my coffee bar? (The previous owners left behind this rolling kitchen cart, and I am happily using it.)

Here’s a hint: Look at the coffee makers.

I am so crunched for space. Especially since I can’t use my lower kitchen cabinets. (Remember, there is a rope tied across the now empty cabinets because there was a rat problem and there’s poison under there.)

So I bit the bullet and downsized. The big Keurig I had here previously I bought from QVC for myself for Christmas last year. I ended up giving it to my youngest daughter when she came earlier this week. She has more use for a big coffee maker than I do.

I shopped and shopped online, looking for the best deal. After I saw Elaine’s pretty little mini Keurig, I was besotted. I wanted a red one of course. Found this at Macy’s. They arrived yesterday. This morning I used the Keurig. Great cup of coffee!

This little Cuisinart was just $30. So with free shipping, I came out pretty good! And it came in red as well. Yea!

These fit the space much better. And it’s only me here. So I don’t need big coffee makers. Judy is about my only visitor. And she doesn’t drink coffee.

When you have small spaces, you have to work with it. Scale down if you can. Make better use of what space you have.

The mugs that work best with the mini Keurig happened to already be on the shelf above the stove. So that worked out well.

I want you to know that I have moved the TV in the living room away from the mantel. I will be showing that in a few days. You guys rock when it comes to suggestions!
