Tomorrow’s the big day. Many of you already have your mantels decorated. I found 10 mantels from www.digsdigs.com to spruce yours up in case you want some new ideas.

I like the idea of using bare branches, which signifies fall. The hydrangeas, and the blackboard idea with a message for the season, all complete this holiday scene.

Another one with the window, surrounded with light colored pumpkins at varying heights to add interest, and keep the eye moving up and down.

Frames are big right now, and this one surprises you with the pop of the red lantern inside.

I like the simplicity of the lined up brown bottles with THANKS written on them. And the background framed document sets the stage for them perfectly.

This one has a bit of unexpected black, which looks crisp against the white background.

Having the wall just above the mantel painted orange is a wonderful accent. The eye goes right to the mirror and the scattered pumpkins. And better yet, dining in front of the fireplace. Ultra cozy.

A simple antique dough bowl with fall gatherings inside, flanked by a mirror. Very simple and elegant.

The framed silhouettes just make this mantel scene. One would assume it is the faces of the family living there. What a great idea! The rest of the mantel is decorated simply so the focus goes to the silhouettes.

A big round mirror over the mantel is always a scene stealer. Adding pops of orange and gourds and pumpkins elevated on books makes it all more interesting.

Which mantel do you like best?

The Ever Changing Mantel

You’re probably wondering why I never move the house that is in the center of my mantel. Well, there is the cable connection to the TV behind it and an electrical outlet underneath it. Now you know I have to have something big there to cover it.

I’ve been wondering if I should just move the TV to the table on the right hand side of the mantel. It would entail dragging the cable across the right-hand side of the mantel top.  Thoughts?

See, it isn’t a working fireplace, so not so pretty. But guess I could figure out some ways to glam it up a bit. (I hate TVs being the center of attention. But this is where my cable connection is, so didn’t have a lot of choices.)

Oh, and I’m going to paint the gold frame on the teacup painting on the left-hand side. Trying to decide what color…

See, the TV just seems to take up too much real estate. Now tell me the truth about what you think about this. I depend on your input!

The other day I was in Hobby Lobby and they had a pig. But it was a bit bigger than the cow. It was under $20 full price. But I refuse to pay full price in there or most anywhere.

I have some more changes in here. But not quite ready to show them. Nothing huge. I’m not able to do “huge” yet.
